A simple voice trick that saves me time and stress
The Problem
Like most people, I sometimes forget where I’ve put my iPhone. For someone with vision loss, that can turn into a real scavenger hunt — checking countertops, couches, tables, and even under stacks of mail.
An iPhone responding to “Hey Siri, where are you?” when misplaced.
The Hack
Instead of searching by touch, I simply call out:
“Hey Siri, where are you?”
Within a few seconds, Siri answers:
“Here I am.”
Then I follow the voice. As I move through the house, I keep asking, and Siri keeps responding until I’m standing right next to my phone.
Why It Works for Me
- Hands-free → No need to find another device to ping my phone.
- Reliable → Siri never gets tired of answering the same question.
- Practical → Even if my phone is covered by a pillow or papers, persistence gets me there.
Other Options
Some people use Apple’s Find My iPhone feature on another device or Apple Watch. That works too, but for me, just using my voice is faster and simpler.
Looking Back (and Forward)
This little trick has saved me countless moments of frustration. It’s quick, easy, and one less thing I have to worry about in daily life.
